Highway One Haven
Highway One Haven
You might miss Garrapata State Park, located south of Carmel, California, because you’re in too big of a rush to get to Big Sur. But nothing about that stretch of Highway 1 should make you hurry… the clear directive should be to slow down, breathe, stop a lot, and take in the scenery. The water in this stretch of coastline is the most magical color, flanked by mountainsides that range from tan to dreamy green depending on how much precipitation they’ve seen. I sat in this spot for a long while just taking in the jewel tones and inhaling the salty air, and knowing I’d enjoy the scene for a lot longer while I recreated its magic with my paintbrush.
This painting was created with gouache paint on Legion Stonehenge Cold Press Black watercolor paper and measures 8×10". It is sold in a double-thick 8-ply white mat and a fun luminescent metallic aqua metal frame that brings the overall size of the piece to 12.5×14.5×1.5”. It ships free.
