My friend Denise was in Carmel for a plein air painting competition (en plein air is a French expression meaning “in the open air”, and refers to the act of painting outdoors with the artist's subject in full view). Although I hadn’t painted on-site without preparation in many, many years, I joined her for some painting at the always-gorgeous Monastery Beach. We had a wonderful time catching up and I enjoyed creating without expectations – something I don’t allow myself to do nearly often enough. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised with the results. I added some finishing touches at home and now it’s available for YOUR home if it speaks to you!

This original painting was created with gouache paint on 300 lb. Legion Stonehenge cold pressed 100% cotton black watercolor paper and measures 8x10”. It comes matted in a white 11×14” mat and framed in a natural wood frame
