I painted this scene from a photograph I took aboard the Princess Monterey on a whale watching trip with my nephew and sister. I love the way the water looks when you are off-shore, with mesmerizing, undulating shapes. We were lucky enough to see orcas in the Monterey Bay on the excursion. The crew said it was the first time in months they’d been spotted in the area. The real magic might have been the fact that I didn’t get seasick, though. Winning!
